The Bonneville Salt Flats is a salt pan located in Tooele County in northwestern Utah. The remote location is famous for hosting a series of yearly land speed events between mid-August and early October. Unlike drag racing, participants must account for the uniquely slick nature of the terrain and design vehicles capable of maintaining sufficient traction. Hundreds of classes of cars, trucks and even motorcycles compete for world records on courses that stretch for 5 to 7 miles in length.
